Yes, one family - and one family only - is welcome dine before six. The rest of you families can sod off.

Bless them.

You need to put an anonymous note through the door.

I have an even worse transgression in that it's such a big chain - I saw 'Ipod's in stock' stickers in the windows of Carphone Warehouse today!

I am seriously considering writing to Charles Dunstone

Doesn't it mean you get 2 adults and possibly 3 children shaking your hand as you walk in through the door, though? You know, customer service and all that.

there was an unforgiveable apostrophe error in Waterstones a few weeks ago but I wimped out of making a fuss to the manager

All errors are now forgiveable in Waterstone's nowadays. They sacked all the staff that could spell years ago.

I know - I worked there in the good old days - we could spell and knew about books

Me too. Nearly 17 years. I was a Regonal Manager when I told them to sling it.

Perhaps they mean relatives of the proprietors? As in "family is welcome at any time" or "it's different for you, you're family". So if you turn up armed with the appropriate genealogical charts you should be OK. If you aren't family then perhaps you could qualify by betrothing one of your DCs to one of theirs?
