MN Moonwatch: how do you pronounce 'gibbous'?

I think it's gibb (as in the brothers) us. But am prepared to be wrong. That's how I'd say it. Might be Jibb us

Oh noooo - I doubted DS1 when he told me about a (correctly pronounced, I now see) "gibbuss" moon. I'd never heard of it!

aitch when referring to the moon it means it is moving towards fullness (or 'waxing' - words to describe the moon are so lovely )

in general it means fat and round I believe

thanks, ladies. i find waxing and waning lovely but am not overly struck on gibbous.

Ooh - and continuing to google, I find that it can be 'waxing gibbous' or 'waning gibbous' - not just plain gibbous.
