Pedants' corner

In a school's behaviour pamphlet

My friend's daughter came home from school with a leaflet describing different types of inappropriate behaviour and their consequences. One, helpfully explained as 'answering back and tutting at staff' was 'showing descent'. Surely it's not too much to ask for a primary school to recognise this isn't right?

My first thread in Pedants' corner, so be nice to me!

Maybe an anonymous note made up from cut-out newspaper letters! .

Dissent is probably a strange concept for a child. I think it would be better to always show kindness rather than phrase it as something negative.

Ooh, that's a good one. And if they show ascent they will go to the top of the class!
