"If you would like to leave any feedback about the centre, please ask for the verbal comments book which is kept behind reception."

If it had said 'oral comments book', it would have been wrong/nonsensical.

But 'verbal comments' surely means 'made via the medium of words' so comments could be written ones.

IMHO.

Pedantic enough?

Surely the problem with it is that all comments made by the medium of words (written or spoken)are verbal -- therefore the qualification 'verbal' was unnecessary.

It reminds me of a sign in Oxford: 'All unauthorised vehicles will be removed mechanically.'

That made me wonder what the alternative to mechanical removal was -- chemical (dissolved in acid)? Psycho-kinetic?

I saw a sign on the toilets in Birdworld today and thought of the pedants on Mn.
3 words:

"Floor maybe wet"

See, I thought verbal meant spoken. I stand corrected and shall tone down my eyeball rolling accordingly.

I like 'floor maybe wet'.

So what should I do with my non-verbal comments?
