Pedants' corner

The shame! I have an ungrammatical pedometer.

I bought a talking pedometer from Kleeneze.

When I press the button it tells me, in an accent I can't quite pin down, "You've took [number] steps".

Should I send it back?

Sounds more like a London cabbie so me.

"So I've gone dahn there and I've told 'er... "you've took 12,487 steps."

Keep it; one day it might find a home in a pedantry museum.

OMG quotation mark shame!
I meant of course:
"So I've gone dahn there and I've told 'er... 'you've took 12,487 steps.' "

From a company called Kleeneze what do you expect?

Should've got a pedantometer.

Just what I was going to suggest, e. vermicularis

I'd really love one of those... You clip it on your belt and it warns you about bad grammar situations.

Would it also count how many times you or others around you had used the wrong past tense that day? Would have to get set up for UK / US usage...

lol at the pedantometer

I would fear for my life wearing it around teenagers - they speak in txt, you know. I would expect it to short fuse and send several million volts of annoyance through me.

Or you could set them up to bleep when other pedantometer-wearers come into range so you can start up conversations in supermarkets about the signs saying "potato's" and "carrot's" and know you won't be greeted by a blank stare
