So said the text I received from a parent after sending one to explain why DS couldn't come to their son's party.

Question is, is that just "txtspk" and therefore just about acceptable (I have been known to use U for "you" myself in texts just to save letters), or does she really think it is "no"?

at you using text speak! I expected better...

Given that the g is missing from letting, it's probably just poor spelling or laziness.

But I only ever do it in texts! When you only have 64 characters it makes sense to an extent.

I'm a Luddite, though - or at least, I only have the technology I actually need. My phone is about 8 years old but perfectly serviceable.

I can't stand all this comparing whose is the smallest...

I always spell everything properly in texts - it'd offend my sensibilities not to..was quite shocked when ds's swimming teacher (a headmaster) replied to my text in text speak.

The great thing about old phones is that you can drop them, have them completely fall to pieces and when you put them back together they still work. Mine survived a dip in a glass of orange juice. Now I bet DH's blackberry wouldn't come through that unscathed...

Uunquiet - my phone is just a phone - none of this ridiculous multi purpose palaver for me ( or am I very old fashioned ?)

AArgh - textspeak does make me see red..

The other phone crime is predictive text when the texter hasn't bothered to see that the texted message just doesn't make sense because the phone has decided what words to use... are you listening SIL of mone..
