Pedants' corner

I am musing and mning...

But I am unsure how I say that in my head.

Am I musing and mmm-ing or perhaps musing and mm-ning (which is hard). Or perhaps I am musing and ning (which is easier but a little odd). Or am I mumming?

What do you say?

Damn obviously not clear

Okay! it is late.

But don't you ever say "I'm just mning" meaning I'm just mumsnetting.

I am a mner. How would you say that? I am a mmmm-ner or I am a mum-ner or a mama? arrgh right, sod ya. I shall await detailed analysis at reasonable hour

Ummm. I dont usually say it out loud.

Anyway, is this a random thoughts thread?

The most important word in that sentence is 'just' - oh so innocent, yet oh so deadly, like crack or nuclear weaponry...

WT

My mum reported you the other day, btw....

Lurking, with some of your friends in some bushes out the back of her house...

No! damn you. It isn't a random thought. I want a pedantic pronunciation answer!

How would one say mner or mning?

Would it obey laws of mnemonic for example and have a silent m? Or something else?

"Em-En-Err"

As in:

"I am an Em-En-Err and I am "Em-En-ing for a short while this evening"

Ah yes, I'm just....

I never just, who does? Why would you bother just doing something. No, no, say it loud and proud. I am mning!

But wait, how would I say that then?

Yes, indeed.

She'd have been less disappointed though, had you had been Waitrose trollies loitering..........

I'm with jura -- in my head I pronounce MN as Mumsnet.

I am with VVV

Em-Enning

because I often say to DH 'I saw on EmEn...' to avoid namechecking Mumsnet in public

Of course, if you mean to say emenner, you might slip up and say enema instead
