on traffic reports particularly - the bloke on BBC London has said it about a dozen times in one report...I think it's unimaginative and irritating..am I alone ?

Use the SA expression 'just now'

'at the minute' doesn't sound half as annoying...

I can see that that would be irritating

My pet hate on traffic reports is 'sheer weight of traffic'. They always say it. Annoying.

and 'shed loads' - this makes me think of vast amounts of stuff all over the road

agree it is annoying!

I work with someone who repeatedly uses "..at this moment in time..." [manager-speak] and this is equally annoying although at least grammatically correct

That would be Andrew Flowerday I reckon on BBC London.

I was just thinking today how I hate it when people say 'at the minute' but I felt guilty and picky. I'm glad to know there are other intolerant, mean minded old biddies like me out there.

Andrew also says, 'It's a total car park' far to frequently, but then I guess there are only so many ways of delivering travel and it's always going to make annoying radio for those who aren't travelling.

too frequently.
Grr and on the pendant topic too. Forgive me.

I start grinding my teeth when people say 'For my sins'.
