the use of 'at the minute'

on traffic reports particularly - the bloke on BBC London has said it about a dozen times in one report...I think it's unimaginative and irritating..am I alone ?

Use the SA expression 'just now'

'at the minute' doesn't sound half as annoying...

My pet hate on traffic reports is 'sheer weight of traffic'. They always say it. Annoying.

I work with someone who repeatedly uses "..at this moment in time..." [manager-speak] and this is equally annoying although at least grammatically correct

I was just thinking today how I hate it when people say 'at the minute' but I felt guilty and picky. I'm glad to know there are other intolerant, mean minded old biddies like me out there.
