Help me, pedants!

I've got a question for you all! I'm not a very good pedant so please be gentle. Wink

When you shorten the word "sarcastic", would you shorten it to "sarcy" or "sarky"? In my mind, it's sarky because of the k noise and sarcy looks to me like it would be pronounced sarsy.

But what is the actual way to do it? I see sarcy everywhere and it's driving me to distraction.

Well, I'd go for "sarky" for the reason that you give.

But if you are really seeing "sarcy" everywhere (can't remember the last time I saw it), then you must be used to it by now and I can't understand why it would drive you to distraction.

It is sarky. Just looked in dictionary too and that confirms.

sarky.

When I read sarcy, I read it with a soft see, which sounds like a really exaggerated west country accent saying, "that's a bit saucy."
(It's possibly lack of sleep is starting to get to me.)

Thanks everyone! It's been bugging me for donkey's years.

DadDadDad, seeing something everywhere doesn't get me used to it Grin It's the same with there, their and they're. It will make me squirm forever.

Poor saucy mare :(

Fancy, juicy, racy, spicy, piracy, policy... it's quite obvious how "sarcy" ought to be pronounced, were it to exist. I'm pleased to say I haven't seen it everywhere, but it would indeed drive me too to distraction. On a bumpy road.
