My DS will be having is 8th birthday party in 10 days time. I have booked a sports hall in a local community use school. They will supply balls, raquets and new for short tennis as well as footballs and cones, but what we do is up to us - they don't direct the entertainment. most guests will be 7 or 8, but some will be 5rs. Mostly boys but half a dozen girls too.

There are 29 kids coming, so I think I need to 'do' something with them for at least some of the play time.

Can anyone help with games involving sports equipment PLEASE!!!

So far we've thought of pass the hat, balloon tennis and duck duck goose.

Dreading it becoming a boring mooch about for most while a few boys play football...

He is my eldest DS so I'm not experienced at this age group yet. Please help!!!

Thank you

The children should all tuck a PE band into the top of their shorts (so it looks like they've got tails!) On the teacher's signal the children should all try and collect as many bands as possible whilst trying to stop other children getting their own (they are not allowed to hold onto their own tail with their hands!) After a time check to see who still has their band and who has collected the most. '

you could arrange some 5 a side football, girls like it too, and divide them into teams.

Thanks for the suggestions. The school website has god ideas, thanks, and 5-football is so obvious I didn't think of it! Mr Wolf sounds good, anyone know any other 'old fashioned' games like that?
What is Hot Chocolate please? Ive never heard of it...

wink murder is a good game (if you need to calm them) and sharks are coming where you shout 'sharks are coming' and they say 'how many' and you say 'four' (or whatever) and they get into groups iykwim!

Team games go down well in this age group - you know, they've got to bounce a ball dwon the hall round a cone and run back to next person etc etc - kind of thing)
Also teh game where you call out something and they have to run to a particular side of the hall (East, West, North, South) or do an action (scrub the deck, walk the plank) etc etc. Think it's called shipwreck but not sure - there's loads similar. I know you wanted games involving sports stuff - but the Mummy game is really fun! (wrapping a volunteer up in loo roll - a team relay game)
