6th birthday party

Fish fingers/veggie sausages, chips and ice-cream for the tea, then a slice of birthday cake to take home with a bottle of bubbles and a balloon.

Is this OK? Dh and I dislike party bags and sugar highs, but wonder whether we're taking it a bit far. There'll be an entertainer as well - we're not total Puritans!

I think I might throw in some carrot sticks and cherry tomatoes... but also maybe some iced biscuits....

I think people do waaaaaay to much food at parties.
The family then have to live on Monster Munch, mini sausages and tiny pizzasa for days.

true about the too much food, but I do like to see more than two types of thing on a plate which is why I'd throw in the crudites...

Would definitely do biscuits as an and/or for pudding. My DD1 couldn't eat ice cream for ages and still can't eat cake because of the egg. We went to a party on Sunday and all she could eat was sausages and crisps . Gave her big ice cream when we got home though!

Ah - good point. I assume that anyone with any food problems would either have mentioned it by now, or have decided that they don't want to be specially catered for. I don't even know whether there are any vegetarians coming, but as it's such a common thing I thought we may as well cater for them. I think we'll add some berries/grapes etc for pudding.

I think that sounds fine - all good child friendly treaty food - add in a few fruit or veg as suggested. As a parent I would be delighted if my child was served this at a party rather than came home high on sugar and E's

Go for it.

(Note about above: I mean additive e's not the drug 'e' - well not yet anyway!)
