Outside party -- forecast says rain

We're having DS's 3rd birthday party on Sunday. We're planning to have it in the local park, but at the moment it's forecast to rain. We'll have a gazebo for a bit of shelter but am wondering what to do if it's looking like a complete washout.

We're expecting 10-12 little ones (ages 2-6) plus parents. We have a very cluttered 2-bed flat with no garden, so having it at our place isn't really feasible. Other options would be to just go for it and if it pours down decamp to a pub, which has a large upstairs room where you can reserve tables, or perhaps the park cafe?

What do you reckon? Would you still attend a rainy party? Decamp elsewhere? Book a couple of tables at the pub just in case? Or just invite everyone back to our teeny tiny flat?

Aargh, the joys of the good old British summer!

Thanks :)

Well, as we live in the UK, I wouldn't have booked such a thing in the first place - did it not cross your mind before you invited people?
Did you put anything on the invitations about "in case of wet weather...."?
How would you contact them with a decision on the morning ?

Thanks for that BackforGood. I have mobile numbers for all our friends.

I have the same situation in a weeks time! I have booked a small hall as a wet weather back up which can be cancelled on the morning of the party if it happens to be sunny. I think it's ok to be out in a bit of intermittent drizzle but a downpour like today wouldn't be pleasant. So yes, I think book a couple of pub tables if you can just in case. Will help you sleep easier Saturday night anyway!

Thanks stclair. The plan is to have it at our flat if it's really raining, which it looks like it might be. The forecast seems to be changing by the hour though, which is really frustrating.

Shame we didn't have it today as it's been lovely and warm, if a bit humid, all day.

Hope the sun shines for you next weekend!
