How long to wait for an RSVP

27 invites to DS birthday party sent out this week, so far only 4 RSVPs, is he just not as popular as he thinks he is?

I am sitting by the phone like a right loser waiting for those texts to come flooding in. Nothing.

When is the party? did you give an RSVP date?
We've received an invite for 16 August, RSVP date early August & I don't intend to reply until end of July.

When's the party?

You can expect to receive replies up to and including an hour before the party, in my experience.

In my experience you get a flurry after the invite, and then everyone forgets! I invited about the same amount for my dd's party, and got the same trickle of reply's, then nothing! I sent a text the week before asking if child was coming, ended up with mostly yess's.
As canary yellow says, I have also had a reply about an hour before party was to start.

We also got quite a few the first weekend after the invites went out.
Some more just before the RSVP date.
Some to be chased.
Don't sit and wait - you'll be waiting a long time.

I did give an rsvp date which is a good few weeks away, the party is in school hols so i thought people may need a couple of weeks to check their plans. I also need people to rsvp by the date as I need to confirm numbers to the venue. I am such a stress head about these things, i hardly ever see the other parents as i work so i am not often at the school gates. I just want my little boy to have the big party he is dreaming of.

I will do my best to chase up rsvps when I am at school gates. That's all I can do really.

I also rarely get to the school gate - I asked a couple of other mums to help nudge people along. I also found out that there are three kids I've invited to DS' party whose parents just won't reply and if they are asked they will say yes, but that isn't necessarily any indication that they will actually turn up, so you may have to build in a little flexibility...

people are really crap at replying, it really annoys me, especially with the ease of texting an answer. ( I have 2 august birthdays to deal with coming up)

This was me last month for dd's party, we invited the whole class and only had 2- 3 responses in the first week, they gradually trickled in over the following weeks and we ended up with 20 kids coming in the end.

3 turned up who didn't reply.
