What exactly is a cinema party?

Ds is 8 in the summer. He'd like a cinema party. Not been to one before so wondered what was involved?
The packages I've seen seem to include the film, some popcorn and a drink.
One mentioned a party room. Do I still need to do the hell that is party food or is the film and treats considered enough? Am I still obliged to fill them full of sausages rolls and party rings whilst clearing up the sandwiches they take one bite out of?
Do I sound bitter Grin?!

I did a DIY cinema party for DD a couple of years ago. Invited about 8 friends round on Friday night, bought a recently released DVD, did pick n mix, pizza and a chocolate fountain. All loved it.

My 2 have also been to friends parties at the cinema and are more than happy with the film and a bag of popcorn. They are usually ready to come home after a couple of hours anyway. I'd keep it simple and save your money if I were you. HTH
