3rd birthday crisis

I have planned DS 3rd birthday for next weekend and invited 8 others from his nursery class but so far we only have one yes and 3 nos and 4 outstanding. Thinking about it the bank holiday was a less than brilliant weekend to pick (but it is his birthday). Can you have a party with 1 guest, should I warn the other parents that their DS will be the only guest. DH thinks it will be fine an the boys will have a great time but I feel so useless that he won't have a little gang of friends

I would have the party even if only with one guest and call it a play date. Just let the parents know their ds is the only one to have replied.

I tend to worry about things like this, too. But honestly, we just had ds's 3rd birthday last weekend with 8 guests and it was really too much. If it's just 1 or 2 you can do something extra-special.

there's an opld adage of 1 guest per year until their 5 (esp if at your house) so it should be fine just let the other parents know they are the only ones to reply

Nahh, they'll have a blast even if it's just the two of them.

Can you not - politely of course - chase up the 4 outstanding?

they'll have a great time on the bouncy castle!
Also, some will probably turn up and not let you know which is very annoying but often happens.

My DS is 3 at the weekend too
(It was very hot that summer as well wasn't it?!)
