hedgehog you basically need to construct a half-sphere cake, cover with choc butter icing and stick in choc buttons or maybe matchmakers (do they still exist?) for spikes.
Half sphere - bake cake in Pyrex mixing bowl

Butterfly - my party book says you need a 20cm square cake which you cut in half diagonally. cut a bit off the two corners that remain and a notch out of each long side (ie cut a square out of the middle), then turn the bits around to make the wings. cover with fondant or butter icing, decorate with sweets. Make body out of space icing and use florists wire for feelers. sorry if that cake-cutting explanation is not clear but it's hard to draw a diagram on line!

Hedgehog - make 2 circle choc sponges and cut them in half so you have 4 semi-circles. Eat one. Sandwich other 3 together on the sides, ie standing on the bit you cut (hope that makes sense)and shape the front into a nose/snout/whatever.

Cover it all in choc cutter icing and then use 2 smarties for eyes, one for a nose and cover rest in rows of choc buttons.

My friend & I once made a penis cake for her dp. We bought two round sponges, two large swiss rolls, covered it all with whipped cream & a cherry at the base. Also chocolate sprinkles on the balls. It looked great.

I have done both. For the hedgehog I made a choc sponge cake which I covered (inc sides) with choc butter icing. Then I made a small semi-circle in it at one side for the face which I made with two choc buttons for eyes and a broken off one for a nose. Then all over the rest of it I stuck broken up bits of flake (broken length ways as well as width ways).

For the butterfly cake I baked a lemon sponge and then cut it in two. I turned the two pieces round so the curved edges were together then put cadbury minirolls between them. Then I covered it with choc and yellow butter icing, decorated the wings with various sweets such as smarties, jelly beans etc and used red shoe lace sweets as antennae. I got a link to a webpage for that off here. Will have a quick search and see if I can find it.

this was the cake that I used for DD. Although obviously mine didn't look so professional and I had to use cad. mini rolls in place of the twinkie.
