I wasn't going to bother doing anything other than family for ds's 1st birthday, but feel the need to bow down to peer pressure, as we have been to a few, now and I feel that I should return the gesture. Trouble is, dh won;t be there as working (farmer). Haven't got much of a garden, don;t really want to do a pass the parcel, as I think they're too young, it'll be too hot to do much anyway, and really it's just an excuse for a mums get together, as I've been back at work for 3 months and haven;t seen anyone for ages. B'day is Thursday, wanted to do something Sunday. WOuld be v grateful for suggestions. Also, do I need to do party bags and if so, what goes in them?

For Dd's first we hired the local school pool and one of their mobile classrooms. Was quite relaxed and just a get together sort of thing, kids were all shattered after a swim so we got to chat! In party bags I put a slice of bday cake, bubbles and a shaker type thing.

Pool is a great idea - but I think I might've left it a bit late for this weekend?!! Will get party bag supplies tomorrow. Might have to just go paddling pool. Also bit of a problem as garden slopes and there is no shade!!

Just let them play and give the mums somw wine. if gathering stuff for party bags is too stressy, go to the pound shop and get each child a little gift, works wonders
