After weeks of perfect weather, it has clouded over today & rain is expected at any time. I blithely invited dd's entire class (15 boys & 6 girls) for dd's 6th b'day party tomorrow, relying on good weather & a massive bouncy castle & cake to keep them happy but I think that's not going to happen! HELP! Any suggestions welcome, except cancellation.

can you get or hire a gazeebo? also some bouncy castles have roofs, maybe they can send one like that?

i am sure rain would not bother kids that much, makes it more exciting, its a pita isn't it, we have lots of events coming up.

Check with the hire company - even if they don't have a roofed one, they usually have wet weather covers so they can be used in the rain. They're used to Britsh unpredicatable weather!

Have you checked the weather for tomorrow? I don't think I can be anywhere near you because we've got lovely weather today, but we have just had 3 days of grey skies and rain. It wasn't cold though.

Where are you? I'm sure it won't be raining all day - surely just a shower? Last year we had a party for ds1 similar to the one you have planned - it rained all morning, really heavily, so the ground was really wet. It brightened up in the afternoon though and the wet didn't bother anyone, it was fine.

My back up plan, such as it was, was to get a recent Disney DVD, close the curtains and make the lounge like a cinema. I was already doing hotdogs so I'd continue with that but also buy some paper cups and put sweets or popcorn in.

Honestly - is there seriously heavy rain forecast anywhere tomorrow? I'm off to check met office website!

The only rain I can see forecast is in the Scottish Highlands - and it's a white cloud with one drop of rain so I think you'll be OK - looks like occasional showers.

Fingers crossed if this is where you are!

We're near Geneva. It was overcast all day today & it looked & felt like a thunderstorm was looming towards sunset but I'm sitting in front of the pc in my bra & pants, sweating buckets!

Thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow.

Just put dd to bed... she was in her 1st ballet this evening. Felt I would burst with pride! So cute. Hope she's not too tired tomorrow.

Aha - sorry! As if you wouldn't know your own weather forecast!

Hmmm, if it's so hot I bet it's still just showers - have a 'back up' plan - some crafty stuff or DVD so if you need to come in for a bit you've got something but let them out again as soon as it stops raining! We bought loads of decorating ground sheets to pin down around the base of the bouncy slide so they weren't tramping around on wet grass. We also made a path to the house with them and some old carpet!

Hope it goes well!!

If all else fails, let them eat cake! Grin Thinking of pass the parcel or something. (Do kids still play these games at parties?)

we were so unbelievably lucky! overcast with a few sunny moments (great as not too hot) & at 5pm, just as the party was ending, a massive storm blew up. Everyone was dashing around, clearing up. So not only did the party not drag on but the tidying was all done as well!
