Hello!

I am wanting to have a weekend celebration with all things Star Wars for my DHs birthday. We have two young DC who would love to get involved.

Problem is -I have not seen Star Wars since I was about 5! Any creative Star Wars fans out there?

So far I have:
Watch Star Wars whilst eating Star Wars themed snacks (to be determined what these snacks might be!)
Have a light saber fight in back garden

.....Yep, I definitely need help!

A clever "Star Wars" game for an adult party entails assigning each guest a character's name that the guest cannot see but everyone else at the party can. Do this by taping a piece of paper with the character's name on it to the guest's back. Guests then ask the others yes/no questions to try to deduce which character they have been assigned

nabbed it off this site

Love this idea btw, not the biggest fan myself but DP 8loves* star wars.

Enjoy! smile

Would he want to dress up as a character? I've seen adult fancy dress as well as personalised Jedi dressing gowns.
Dance or listen to the soundtrack? Some of the songs are slow (main theme) but others like the cantina song is more boppy.
Would you dress in a Princess Leia bikini wink?
There are lots of Star Wars clone wars cakes in the supermarket.

..this is for an adult?

Thank you! Yes I think DH even has a costume (can't be sure but have just told DH he needs to go through our costumes tmrw so will find a way of asking).

Any ideas of costumes for DC that it could make (can't sew so has to be easy!).

I have just looked at that website Orchard - thank you!

Added to list:
- decorate living room with stars to look like a galaxy and Star Wars posters
- have theme music playing
- dress in character
- Star Wars cakes

Appreciate your suggestions!

Good question Lady. I think it might end up being a Star Wars themed weekend for just DH and DC instead of an actual party. I can spread all these things it over the course of the birthday weekend. DC will love it too!

And after the DC have gone to bed you can dress up like Princess Leia in a gold bikini.

You cold make wookie steaks for dinner. They're a bit like rump steak, but just a little Chewy! grin

I'll get me coat! grin

CassieTheCockatoo Sat 06-Apr-13 13:29:46

grin -gold bikini - did Princess Leia really wear one?

- adding wookie steaks to list as that's funny (that would really impress DH as I am vegetarian and rarely cook meat for him!).

Do you have a wii?

The Lego star wars game is (apparently) good.

Amazon have Star Wars shaped cake moulds - Darth Vader and little R2-D2 ones that you could also use as ice cubes.

Have a look on eBay for star wars party or star wars decorations etc etc

You'll find all sorts of stuff from bits to go in kiddy party bags to decorations and through to the expensive collector stuff...

Even if you don't go for any of it, it might provide some good ideas.

Pin the light sabre on the donkey darth vader maybe? grin

Star wars lego set - if your loaded Argos do the star ship.

There is a traveling star-wars road show that displays original film costumes, we went last year when it was in sailsbury, a google should pin down locations.

Back to back movies playing, there are also periodic showings at cinemas, have a google as 8hrs in the cinema is bliss, some do through the night screenings !!!

Talk like yoda competition.

Fun is involved when alcohol is had!

Make sure everything you buy and organise is from the original trilogy, Episodes IV to VI.

The recent prequels (Episodes 1 to III) were shit, and lots of people think so (it's not just my opinion). Your DH may have this opinion or may not, but certainly some of the people attending the party will.

So it's safest to stick to the original 70s and 80s stuff.

Amazon do a Jedi dressing gown which went down very well for my brothers birthday.

Dolallytats Sat 06-Apr-13 14:53:16

You can get Star Wars rice paper cake toppers for fairy cakes and rectangular or round icing sheets with all different Star wars scenes on them for birthday cakes. My son loved his Darth Maul one that he had on his birthday cake this year!!

Dolallytats Sat 06-Apr-13 14:56:26

I also saw a Star Wars themed pinata, although for the life of me I can't think what website it was on-a job for google, I think!!

zipzap Sat 06-Apr-13 22:18:51

Star wars origami - google it; there seem to be books as well as instructions on the web.

See who can make the best death star or any othr spaceship/character etc (sorry not very up on SW!) out of a sheet of a4... Do it at the start of the party/weekend and they can be used as decorations or (learn how to do one yourself in advance!) and have it as a good party trick!

BelfastBloke Sun 07-Apr-13 01:06:42

Fuck Darth Maul.

(that was not a party suggestion)

MinnieBar Sun 07-Apr-13 08:57:45

grin BelfastBloke.

I made my own Death Star piñata for DS's birthday which they then beat the crap out of with lightsabers (or, as DD1 calls them, 'light savers')

Yeah, don't do that. It took bloody ages to make and looked a bit crap - perfect for five-year-olds, not for adults.

You could get a donkey piñata and paint it grey to look like an AT-AT?!

blibblibs Sun 07-Apr-13 09:08:50

I got the pinata from here for DS5 birthday party - he loved it and still has it hanging in his bedroom now.
Lego sets would be a great idea too - you get the small sets for about a tenner.
Lego star wars on the Play station is also good.

Every day is a Star Wars day in this house!

blibblibs Sun 07-Apr-13 09:10:18

We also have Star Wars monopoly which DS5 is able to play with some assistance.
