Party bags can save lives...

I guess many people saw Comic Relief last night and the harrowing stuff about really young children dying of malaria. The big thing about malaria is that it is preventable.

After the last Comic Relief, I found this online - //www.partybagssavelives.com and did this for DS1 and DS2 birthdays

Its a brilliant idea - the school also got involved and ended up buying over 500 mosquito nets instead of party bags!

There have been lots of mumsnet threads about what to do about party bags - after watching Comic Relief, maybe this is the answer!

lilolil - thanks a lot. MNHQ showed some interest so hoping to get a MN campaign moving on this.

Thanks for your support.

I'd be really happy to support this - might use it as an "after dinner" gift next time we entertain (just to be clear... we don't normally do that but as a one-off this would be lovely). Would also be good for wedding favours if people had the budget for it (I know, not all will - but some do).

Hope MN does manage to get a campaign running on this, so simple yet so valuable. Good luck :-)

You should check out Nets Instead

//www.againstmalaria.com/netsinstead

It pretty much covers what you are suggesting. V simple way to do something incredibly valuable. Spread the word!

That is a lovely idea. Mine too are grown up now, but I will tell my friends.
