My ds has asked for a bug party for his b.day and wants us to do it. Anyone help with any good ideas? Much appreciated if you can x

We've had a group called zoolab come and work with the children at school. Also, my local surestart centre has had a couple of bug 'classes' so you could check with them?

Happy bug hunting Smile

we also had someone come with actual creepy-crawlies and it was brilliant. if you don't want the live ones, though, you could just have a bug theme - think of regular party games you can adapt eg pin the sting on the wasp, or musical stick insects (freeze like a twig)?? for a warming-up game, have lots of ladybird shapes cut in half, everyone gets one and has to run around finding the child who has the other half of their ladybird with the same number of spots - reshuffle and repeat.

You could get some fairy cakes and icing and they could decorate them to make bugs. Bits of liquorice for the legs, smarties for a ladybird etc.

There is a really cool mini cake pan which Lakeland used to sell. Look on ebay for 'nordic mini cakes bugs' - there are a few on there.

Hey! Look at what I found this morning. They offer a lot of different theme party ideas and there is something for everyone! Personally, I like the Harry Potter theme, but the Pirates theme is a good old favourite (as my 8 year old son will tell you!). www.scarlettentertainment.com/news-blogs/entry/104-theme-ideas-for-children-s-parties
