Don't be touched that he wants you close by. Not because he will miss you but that he doesn't want to cope with the baby on his own!

I would go ballistic, I'm afraid.

What a total lame brain FFS minding your own child for a 24 hour period is not rocket science, all he has to do is keep her alive and reasonably content.

I wouldn't be thinking of that as a touching compliment either.

i would be furious and absolutely refuse to agree to his suggestions

HAHAHA! He doesn't want you close by because he's a soppy romantic soul!

Cancel the booking or you'll end up in the hotel room all night with her, while he props up the bar!

SpookyDooooo · 28/10/2007 16:35

That is just totally outrageous & unrealistic surly he can look after her for one night

squishie · 28/10/2007 16:39

good heavens! he is either dreadfully lazy or very unsure of his parenting abilities. i think you should start going out in the evenings to ease him into the very difficult overnight responsibility. in fact why not pop out now?

CappuScreamO · 28/10/2007 16:42

good grief the man is insane

he wants you to leave your bed and drive over in the night if dd wakes up?

tell him you will book a nearby hotel and expect the same support every time he goes away in future

Absolutely no excuse. I would unbook the room if I were you. What a nightmare.

Report
Blu · 28/10/2007 17:11

Does he think you will have an affair, or something?

Report
gibberish · 28/10/2007 17:15

He's a complete numpty. I wouldn't feel touched, I'd be furious that he couldn't at least try to manage one night with you dd. Pathetic.

Do you let him do much care of her/is he willing to do much care of her when you're there?

I agree with Cappucino. And Blu. And everyone else on this thread.

Am practically speechless

What a good idea to expect her to settle in a strange room on top of not having you there for the first time in 2 years

the goon

How on earth did I open this and then post on it nearly an hour later?

Report
Blu · 28/10/2007 18:44

You will laugh about this in years to come...the time he booked into a hotel nearby in case dd wakes up.

What did he think you would do, run down the road in your fluffy hotel bathrobe and white towelling mule-style slippers? As Reception gaze at you as you leave? And Reception in your DH's hotel think "goodness, she's come undressed and prepared!"

onebadmother · 28/10/2007 19:12

Am very much hoping he's had a 'doh!' moment of clarity and is now irritating you with his constant apologizing?

Report
rookiemum · 28/10/2007 19:15

OMG I'm totally flabbergasted at this one, men can be so priceless sometimes, with their irrational and illogical fix it solutions.

Do go easy on him once he gives in and make it a point from now on that if he goes away for a night ( unless its work related) you match him stay for stay, its the only way to make sure he is a competent parent.
