my dd is sitting singing to herself while she happily polishes her trolley full of blocks. this is after dusting and polishing the stairs, polishing the telly, pictures and mirrors. i'm having a rest but she decided she wanted to do all the polishing for me (i am a v infrequent cleaner so there is a satisfyingly thick layer to be had off everything).

she is such a happy, helpful soul this morning. i hope it's partly down to us spending the whole day together yesterday. (new-ish baby so we haven't had much time together lately) dp took the baby as much as possible and we sat on the sofa in our pyjamas watching films and telly and playing on the computer (at her request).

we've had some tricky times behaviour-wise ever since the baby was born and last weekend was nothing but arguments. is so lovely to see her how quickly she can turn around with a bit of attention.

i just wanted to post this for all the people who've been having a difficult time with their 4 year olds lately. it can feel like it's never going to get better - and i know we're by no means out of the woods yets - but there is hope (although perhaps not for the cat, she's rapidly running out of stuff to polish...)

what a lovely post
my 4 year old is in between a 6 yr old and a 2 year old and I feel i do not spend enough time with her on her own telly in PJ sounds great lol

thanks snowball

although it turns out that while "polishing" the stairs with a wet cloth as we've done previously is a fine activity for a four year old, polishing them with polish is foolishness personified and turning them into a deathtrap. which i am sure everyone except me would have worked out before doing it
