lost special toys... how to deal sensitively with 3.5 DS

our DS was given two Jellycat toys - a bear and a lamb (Small Pickles) when he was born and they became special favourites. imagine our mortification when we realised they were lost on the way back from an outing either on tube/bus/street. Jellycat discontinued them 2 years ago and all attempts (ebay etc)to find replacements have come to nothing.

oddly, DS hasn't mentioned them since they were lost 10 days ago (possibly he was experimenting by taking off his mini-rucksack - also lost - and realises they have gone) but it is only a matter of time....

when he does mention it, how can I deal with this as sensitively as possible?

would appreciate guidance!

thanks, T4T

Ooh I have a book about losing toys...what is it called. Oh yes, Tatty Ratty. It explains that when toys get lost they go on adventures and can then be found at a store (where you can buy a new one). Ridiculously cheesy and very commercial orientated obviously but my SiL swears by it when her LOs lose their fave toys (or blankees).

Did you know Blooming Marvellous have a 'Lost Toys' board on their website -might be worth a try?
