Is my 6 year old 'odd'?

My 6 year old is obsessed with germs. I have just caught him standing on the toilet seat, crouched down trying to have a poo...this isnt the 1st time, he does it everytime despite me telling him off for it. Apparantly he cannot bear to sit on the seat knowing that other peoples bums have touched it, he doesn't laugh when he says it either, he gets quite stressed out so I know he's not just being a clown.

He threw his water bottle away that the school gave him as he suspected that his brother may have drank from it.

I bought him a big mammoth teddy (he's also obsessed with animals and pre-historic creatures) from London and he took it everywhere with him...until he saw his brother touching it when he had no clothes on and now DS says it has "willy germs" all over it and refuses to play with it anymore.

This morning I made him a bowl of porridge for his breakfast. DS1 accidently sat down to eat it, picked up the spoon before I told him it wasnt his so he put it down again...DS2 refused to eat it saying it was now full of germs.

He also told me to get rid of his favourite Darth Vader mug as he suspected that my partner had used it.

Asking him to "borrow" his brothers clothes now and again is laughable...I don't even bother asking anymore.

He also has a few behavioural problems which I am waiting for an apointment with the child psych to diagnose, could this be part of it?

There is ALOT of OCD in our family...I have 6 aunts and uncles and only 2 of them show no signs of it.

Im not too well up on OCD but before worrying too much, is DS1 old enough to have been stirring a little or perhaps an older friend? As in Willy germs and bum germs etc. it sounds a bit like playground talk and wondered if that could be the cause of such deep concern

I am not sure what to suggest about the OCD.

My dd1 can be like that about drinking / eating from a spoon that someone else might have even looked at!

I get my dd to help me with the cleaning and tidying so she can have some control over the things that bother her.

TBH if the toilet was a problem for her (which it is not) I wouldn't hesitate, to get her to help me wipe the pan clean. (I would cean it first without her knowing), so she can see it's not germ infested.

I would encourage sharing food from the same bowl as others, popcorn, anything to try and help.

The school loos can be horrid places for young children, how does he cope at school?

I have to say it does sound a bit unusual.

Its not that odd, I spent years putting loo roll on the toilet pan seat, even when I lived with my parents!

As soon as I come in from shopping or being out I have to wash my hands.

I am sure our dcs pick some of this behaviour up from those around them.
