The first time they make a noise which isn't a cry - whether it's a coo or a laugh

Some of the things she comes out with (just turned two) like the other morning "oh, peppa pig socks, wow, fantastic!"...keeps me giggling to myself all day.
Having a baby is like a love affair, it consumes you and just thinking about them can make you smile. Even though she is now a tantruming toddler who winds me up no end!

When DS gets upset with DH if he is attacking (playfully of course) me and gets all protective - he is only 19 months.

the little moments really..just chatting after lunch, laughing about rubbish and silly word games..the mad sense of humour and all the nonsense makes all the rest throughly worth while

I love that there's someone who thinks I am the bees knees (and hasn't worked out that I have my faults yet )

When DS sees me after a while apart, e.g. first thing in the morning, or when I call to collect him from nursery.
When he does something new, for e.g. he's just started coming up and holding his bum and saying 'poo' when he's done one.
When we roll on the floor laughing.
When he gives me hugs and kisses spontaneously.

ds (24 weeks) gives me a huge, gummy smile, first time he sees me.

he's just spent half an hour very happily playing with a blanket over his face. (simple, simple pleasures!)

and before that I had him giggling hysterically by kissing him behind his right ear. (left ear, not so much.)

watching dh's face, when he watches ds asleep. or when he's making ds laugh.

his face when he reaches for a new toy, when he rolls over, when he "stands up", etc.

oh, I could go on and on. But you get the picture.

oh yes and ds has wicked trick of smiling into my eyes, last thing before he drifts off, if I'm holding him. Which I do. Often.

the way they can cry and cry till you're at the end of your patience
30 seconds later they'll be cooing and laughing and making you forget what you were wingeing about

nearly 4yo dd cuddling me
when I am lying reading to them both and they are cuddled up to me and I remember that everything else in the world is pretty much irrelevant

I waited a long time for DS, and parts of parenting are much harder than I expected and I'm a much worse parent than I expected. But he makes me laugh so much and I look forward so much to getting to know him as he grows. There is rarely a day that goes by when I'm not thankful for the priviledge of helping grow into himself.

I just love it. On a good day I love all of it and on a bad day I still love some of it - even if it's the putting them to bed bit..!

I love the fact that they're their own people and we can discuss/argue about stuff. I love how opinionated they are. I love how they think I'm really clever (sometimes) and how even the older cynical one still believes there's a 'Mummy rule book' (I quote it often).

It's fab [disclaimer: I also love working full-time...]

and he's too young to know that I can't spell priviledge!
