So what's likely to happen during the first swimming lesson for beginners?

The dd's are starting tomorrow and I can't tell them what to expect because I have no idea!

Is it a group thing or seperate?

Lots of play, blowing bubbles in the water, splashing water on their faces (if they are up to it) holding on to the side and kicking, maybe a little of swimming with a sausage-shaped float

do they swim at all?
Ds first lesson was a group and basically he was complete beginner so was just water confidence stuff. Dipping head under water, blowing bubbles, floating on back, swimming widths anyway they could and swimming on back and jumping in etc. Basically working towards duckling certificates

He is now in next group and it is starting on teaching them how to move arms and legs, swim with face underwater, swim without aids and diving in.

Oh it'll be as everyones said then, songs, blowing bubbles under water, practise climbing out and jumping in, fun stuff

How old are they. DTDs started at about 5yo. They we basically put in hte pool with a pair of "armband thingies" an made to get on with it.

The younger ones also use armbands but are bascically 'dragged across by ateacher whilst they kick their legs and stuff.
