Do you let your children see you naked???

Is so is it both parents they see naked, and up to what age, if not why not??? Does it make a difference if it's DS's/DD's etc?

(just had a discussion with DH about it and wondered what other people's views were).

They see me naked a lot. DH not so much, unless they walk in when he's showering!

Yes they see us naked. Both of them, both of us.

Ds is 6 and dd is 3.

And I guess it will go until until they say "ugh parents - put some clothes on" or something like that.

I remeber a time when I would have rather died than see my parents naked (the thought doen't thrill me now), so IMO that is the time to stop.

Everyone sees you naked a lot

Yep. But ds1 is 12 now so I am very much on the lookout for signs that I should change my habits. I guess that things will gradually change over the next year or so.

Yes and they laugh at my stomach.
They are six and eight.

Yes, our 2 dds see both of us naked in the course of getting dressed, bathing etc. They are nearly 5 and 2.7. They are chilled with it, as are we.I suppose it will happen less often as they get older - Dh has stopped sleeping naked in the last year for reasons of appropriateness when dd1 climbs into bed in the mornings.

Both me and DP frequently walk about the house naked, as does my DD. We also sleep naked and DD comes into our bed in the mornings. DD used to think DP's willy was a poo!

I think it's perfectly natural and would hate for my DD to think there was something shameful about the human body. I will add, however, that DD is only 2, so things may change when she reaches adolescence, depending on her reaction.

Oops, both DP and I

Both me and dh sleep naked, and walk around naked all the time ... in the house, of course!

DH has four grown up kids of his own, and he told me recently that the age when it becomes bleeugh for your kids is seven, max.

So until then, I intend to hang loose ....

My DDs (6) see me naked quite often and they don't seem to have a problem with it, except DD did once announce that she loved me more when I was dressed . And the other DD recently stated that when she had a hairy winkie she would shave it all off .

Dh is a bit more shy/modest which has only ensured that the girls find it hysterical when they do catch a glimpse and they also try to yank his towel off after a shower . Much better to be chilled about it from an early age IMO.

I don't think that I am bleeugh for my 12yo (or at least not more when naked than when clothed). I am more circumspect about nakedness than i was I suppose, but still pretty relaxed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/09/2007 13:26

yes, but not sure until what age - IU suppose it'll become apparent when it's not appropriate.

harleyd · 06/09/2007 13:26

we walk around naked too. and seeing as cant seem to shower or bath without at least one of them needing a pee then they cant help but to see nakedness

Yes.

It will stop when the DC start finding it unpleasant which presumably will be when they stop coming into our room uninvited and getting into bed with us. Ditto bathroom.

hmm interesting - DS1 is nearly 7, and for a while now DH has thought that I shouldn't be naked in front of the DS's (obviously DS3 he's not bothered about yet). I'm not sure the DS's have ever seen him naked .

For him it's not so much a "shame" about the human body (he's got quite a nice one ) - but a privacy thing.

I asked him why they shouldn't see me naked and his response was "why should they" (couldn't argue really as I couldn't think of a solid argument as to why they shouldn't ) tbh I'm not fussed either way - so I'll stop being naked in front of them (doesn't happen often mind anyhow) just to keep the peace but just wondered what other people's opinions were.

Yes - but he is only 22 months. He shouts "Daddy's winky" and giggles. Pretty similar to my reaction actually
And he comes over and shouts "boobs!" before grabbing a double handful and saying "wobble wobble"

If they need me when im in the shower, they come and find me and dd1 talks to my butt or boobs like men do. Its a bit unerving - so i try to avoid it as much as poss

DS is 5 and a bit and he sees DH and I naked all the time. He's recently satrted wanting the toilet door shut when he goes for a pee though, "as it's private" so that may all change soon enough.

He was playing with his three year old cousin a few months ago and they'd had a pretend wedding at his cousins insistence. They then went to bed and took their clothes off cos that what mummies and daddies do in bed ...that must be from BIL and SIL though as I always sleep with a vest or t-shirt on.

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/09/2007 13:36

He has taken to saying "Sis is hungry mum....get your norks out!" though.

Now where could he have gotten that word from?

Report
doggiesayswoof · 06/09/2007 13:39

Me - yes - dd is 3 and I still have baths with her sometimes.

Dh - hardly ever - he is generally v self-conscious about his body though
