We have taken the clippers to my 9 month old ds's hair today as it was getting long and floppy and was annoying me. He now looks like a baby thug (although he is very cute too). I can now see his cradle cap and will have to fight my urges to pick it off. I wasnt sure he would tolerate the clippers but he was great, if a bit twisty, trying to see what I was up to. DH got the job of trying to hold him still so I think I got the best job. We then had to hose him down in the bath so he didnt itch all day. Kept threatening to do dd's hair too but she wasnt having any of it...lol

I did the same to our DS a couple of months ago (22mo at the time).
His blond, slightly curly locks were getting a bit too long and uneven, particularly round the ears. So I took my beard trimmer to him on the longest setting.... DW fairly distraught at the sight of all that soft fine hair on the floor.
Neither of us liked the end result, far too thuggish (even on a number 6 setting). Will not be doing it again, but 2 months on it looks fine!

Just be grateful that you didn't do what my DH did and forget the guard! Normally I do his hair, but he decided that I take too long and when I went to bed he decided to do it himself. He came in to see me (in bed) with a bald stripe down his head like a reverse mohican and I burst into tears.
In my defense I was 5 months pregnant. He's just about been forgiven now, but he's been banned from touching the clippers ever again.

Ahh - what I failed to mention is that after scalping DS I then proceeded to trim my beard and forgot to put the guard back on.... one scalped son and one patchwork father.... not my proudest 10 minutes that!

But Justadad, at least Seona and her DH were both involved in the 'scalping', which suggests that they were both happy with the idea. My understanding is that you waited until your DW was in the garden getting the washing in when you began the dreadful deed!!!
