I hand down stuff, but had managed to give a fair bit away before the younger ones came along.

Yep.
Friend has three dds.
Buys new Boden stuff for all and passes old stuff to friends.
Mad, mad, mad.

My bro does but I think he buys an equal amount of new stuff so the subsequent child will not feel neglected.

DS2 was very conveniently born exactly 2 years after DS1, so handmedowns all the way here.

We do buy some new stuff, but not very much.

I hand stuff down but also buy new stuff for ds2.

Now they are growing more slowly stuff tends to wear out rather than be outgrown

maybe her kids ruin the clothes too. I hand down ds1's stuff, btu it's only good for pre-school or playing out in. Just abotu everything is marked.

NatalieJane · 09/07/2007 10:28

We don't, but only because we don't have any of DS1's clothes left.

I have a sil who was serously offended when I offered her a bag of lovely, barely worn cast offs. She went round telling everybody how I had insulted her by implying they were a "charity family" (I quote)

I LOVE bags of hand me downs myself - oh and I sometimes buy 'bundles" on Ebay. It's such fun to rake through. And I positively haunt charity shops!

Yes I do, and she throws them away as well as she thinks its gross to pass them on.

Mine have all had second hand, my oldest less so obviously but this one will have everything second hand, down to the nappies!

except shoes.
Wellies don't count, neither do the cheapo summer sandals.

DDs clothes were handed round to friends and handed back when expecting my second lo. Don't know how many girls used them in between. Since lo2 turned turned out to be ds, dd's wardrobe has gone a little more unisex!

I pass down DS1's stuff... he was a biggish baby and DS2 is small so it's really nice to see some stuff that DS1 never wore finally getting some use!

If anything has stains that don't come out I don't pass them down though....

I feel a bit bad that DS1 got (and will continue to get) all new stuff but DS2 mostly gets "old" stuff.

Don't think I know anyone no.

Definatly hand down dd1's to dd2, and then they go to friends Dd.

I only passed a small amount (good bits) down from Dd1 to dd2, i love buying baby clothes so after having dd1 i sold alot of her clothes on e-bay and gave the rest to friend (she never gave it back) so had to buy new for dd2.

I have a shopping addiction and i enjoy buying new and some 2nd hand clothes for the dd's.

Dd2 is now as big as dd1 so they share alot of clothes, i buy less but better quality but alot of their clothes comes from e-bay.

Not so much now as dd rather turns up her nose at ds's cast offs. But when she was a baby most people thought she was a boy...

I don't really ...it was too tempting to buy new clothes for my eldest two dd's and to be honest I didn't want all the photos of dd2 looking like dd1 ( they looked very alike!!).

Sometimes eras in their lives are remembered by me through knowing when I bought specific outfits etc
