Yes, if necessary.

I did, but DS is too big and wriggly now (10 months and 23lb), but do put him on my back (have an Ergo carrier) if I need to do cooking/tidying etc and he is whingy.

i dont iron, but i often prepared meals with dds in the sling. i would drop things in to a pan at arms length, but wouldnt stand over a sizzling frying pan, iyswim.

Yes. You can't really do the bending down kind of stuff with a ring sling, but most other household stuff is fine, and they enjoy the movement. I wouldn't do ironing or cook in front of a hot stove with a baby who was old enough to reach out, but have done food prep such as salad with little fingers reaching out to see what is going on

no. it would annoy me too much!

Ironing no...but then any excuse not to. Cooking, absolutely, maybe not slaving over a hot stove, but bunging things in the oven or pans is easily manageable, as long as you take your time. DD1 would have starved if i hadn't!

yes if necessary.
Like Noonar I would not lean over a spitting frying pan!
But if I cook I use the rings at the back so it's at arm's length - no danger of the baby reaching in etc.

nope, jsut used sling out and about, never really in house - too busy with other kids

Yes, but try to move her over onto one hip - that's why I'd always go for a ring sling, not a front carrier for domestic use!

no ironing in case i iron dd's head - i'm rubbish at ironing at the best of times
i don't mind preparing tea if it's just chopping/washing veg but put her down for anything involving cooking/hot water etc.

I don't iron so that's not really applicable but I have been known to wash up and fill pans with DD in her sling, sometimes I might have shifted her so she was on my hip but behind my arm IYSWIM. I never chopped or stood over hot pans though, we are talking filling pans with water and putting pasta in!
Now she is a bit older (15 months) I put her in a mei tai on my back

me too, what everyone else has said

Not ironing - any excuse - but if necessary anything else. I struggle to hoover but keep trying. Bending down gets harder the heavier they get. I prefer not to - I have a attach-to-the-table highchair and she will sit in that to watch most kitchen activities now.

Thanks for all your responses.........DS3 isn't even a week old yet - so I'm not concerned about little fingers reaching out for stuff - just wanting to buy a sling so that DH/I can actually get some stuff done around the house.

It's all very well DS3 sleeping for 2-3hrs at a time during the day.....but once DH is back at work next week NOTHING will get done if he's not in a sling as he'll only sleep in someone's arms (or being held in a 'sling' position with one arm leaving only one arm avaiable for 'doing' stuff).

And when he gets older you can use a wrap sling and have 2 hands free, slings are great.

I also use mine to get DS to sleep when nothing else helps
