My ds does sleep through (mostly) apart from the odd stir when he needs repositioning but goes straight back off. Not sure I will ever wnt to put him in his own room the thought terrifies me, I dont think i'd get any sleep!
When did you put yours in their own rooms and how did you cope?

DD1 - 10 weeks
DD2 - 9 weeks (she was a loud sleeper)

We all slept much better in seperate rooms

DS was from about 8 weeks if I remember. We didn't have a monitor either because he snored like a piglet.

Mine was about 13 months. I liked having him in the same room (right by the side of my bed). He didn't fret at all when I put him in his own room.

8 weeks actually. We'd been co-sleeping until then, but she was very fidgety! She didn't like her little crib, so I just moved her straight to her cotbed in her own room. No problem whatsoever - slept wonderfully (both of us!) I bought her a little blankie/bear that I had in my bed with us for a few nights beforehand, and I think this may have helped with the transition. She still has that bear (15 months old), and the minute she gets into her cot she clutches the bear to her face and breathes him in, and just closes her eyes. I'd really recommend getting a sleep toy/ blankie, and don't ever let your ds have it outside of the bedroom, this way they totally associate it with sleep. Worked a treat for me, anyway.

She ws about 4 and a half months as we realised we were waking her up when we went to bed. We slept in the spare room one night to check and it was the first time she slept through, so she was moved the next night!

Still have monitor now she is 15 months but I can't hear her without it.

ds was 2. i believe the latest advice is that babies should sleep in the same room as adult(s) until 6 months.

6 months as thats what the fsids recommends. I was fine with it and my son didn't notice. His sleep was the same too.

DS used to fall asleep in his bouncer chair and I'd lift that and put it in his cot.

6 months. Im sure we were both disturbing each other. However did find it very hard and constantly checked on him even though had the monitor on. A neighbour of ours baby died of cot death aged 3 weeks about the same time I put him in his own room so made me more paranoid. He often co-sleeps with me (daddy away) though if he is in his own room I often switch off the monitor and put in my earplugs.

Both DD and DS stayed with us for 6 months. I was well and truly ready to send them to their own rooms by 5 months, but my maternal guilt would not let me put them in another room until they hit the magic 6 month mark

ds1 from the first night - it was the only cot he would settle in, and dh was on call, so needed whatever sleep he could get, but I did sleep in the nursery with him for a while. ds2 slept in our bed for 9 months (not planned, just got into bad habits), dd is 7 weeks and is in her own room for the first time tonight, for the same reason as chirpy, and also she doesn't so much snore as creak and it's impossible to sleep through. Also, when the boys came in to see us in the night for one reason or another, they woke her up, which was a right pest. Not sure I am ready for it though - I had a big sulk when dh suggested it and I might go and kidnap her later and sneak off to the spare room.....

DD1 didnt get her own room till we moved to a bigger house, she was 19 mths but slept well.
DD2 is 8 mo and still in with us, will probably move her in with DD1 after the summer when she is nearly one.

dd1 and ds were about 6 months (the FSID recommendation). dd2 and dd3 were about 18 months I think as we had to juggle rooms around for dd2 and move house so that dd3 could get a room on her own. dd3 started sleeping through the night on the day we moved house and she got her own room.

DS1 was 8 weeks, but DH or I slept in there with him every night until he was close on a year (spare bed in his room) and then he got a raging temperature (around 41) with each tooth he cut so was awake a lot in the night - not upset, just very hot, thirsty and a bit surprised looking.

DS2's still in our room - he's 16mo. He's going in his own room as soon as it's decorated - we've just moved house and have a room for him now!

AJM, I agree though - I couldn't have slept if I'd been away from them - and they were grunty loud sleepers - I just learnt to wake up for the important shouting and not the gribbling
