i posted yesterday about if i should give my lo sma white, but i think i was a bit hasty & maybe she's not that 'hungry' afterall!!

i definitely want to change her milk tho, she's been really farty & unsettled again today!!!!

is 'cow & gate comfort' a good choice? i hear it can give nasty poos? also somebody say it needs making with boiling water, but the instructions on the tin didn't say so

help me out, there is so much to choose from!!!!

I used cow and gate omneo comfort after lo did get a bit windy - he settled with it just fine with no nasty poos that I remember with any clarity! -
Also- never made it with boiling water - I just used cooled boiled water and DS was fine.

thanks girls

she's 11 weeks today.

i also meant to add, she drinks her milk cool, i've heard people say mixing it with cool water can make it too thick / clumpy? is this the case?

Can't say I noticed - when we went to France, and DS was 7 or 8 months old, I just mixed the powder with Room temp bottled water - no lumps.

Although, that said, your DS is still very small so I would definitely still used boiled water.

I used Omnio Comfor for Ds, years ago now, but anyway, it was great and he was so much more settled once I switched to that.

IIRC it used to say to make the bottles up with water that had just been boiled, rather than boiled and cooled. I think this is because it is quite thick, and the powder doesn't mix very well if the water is only luke warm.

I used to boil kettle, make them up and then leave them to cool in kitchen before putting them in the fridge.

My now 5 month old was very colicky and we tried (amongst everything else I could think of!) Cow and gate comfort. She hated it. I have heard others say that too. We made it with boiled, boiling hot water and it was still lumpy. The lumps would block the teats and she would scream even more unable to get it out.

I would try it again - because tbh I would have tried anything - but I've not had good experience.

Do you think she is colicky? Does the wind bother her? Have you tried any other colic remedies?

I hope you find something that works soon, it's so distressing with an unhappy baby.

Most babies are unsettled at that age, it's just a thing they do. You can run yourself ragged trying to diagnose why or you can wait a week and they'll have changed completely

no she's not colicky, she's actually quite happy in that way lol.

i've been 'waiting it out' pretty much the whole time, she's always been on SMA & i've been wanting to change her milk but never as yet done it. i keep thinking 'maybe if i wait another couple of weeks she might be better' ... but often a couple of weeks will pass & she's no different

her feeding has been about the only problem we've had with her, quite often she'll puke up quite a lot of milk ... her nappies are really splatty & she's really trumpy!! its possible this is just the way she is ... but if i change her milk & she's better than she is now, its worth it!!

best to make with freshly boiled water ,that has cooled for 40 minutes or so

or , whilst you are seeing if this suits her better, buy the ready made one..

Hi Amanda.
I cannot sing C&G Comfort's praises enough! My lo had really terrible colic and bad stomach aches from about 4 days old, It was awful. Then the HV said about C&G Comfort and I thought it was a 'special' milk and she said no you can get it anywhere, I was sure it wouldnt work but from the first day he was much better. It did make his poo really stinky and green but I didnt care if he was happy. He is now 7months and on the 6mnts+ one and is still fine, I also recommended to a friend who thought her son was lactose inrtolerant cos he kept nothing down and he is fine now too. You dont need to make it with boiling water either Ive always made mine from cold so dont worry and good luck!
