Swaddling- how, is it hard. what benefits?

simple! fold sheet in triangle, lie baby down middle with neck along long edge, fold over one side tucking in over one arm, fold up the bottom, fold over the other side and tuck underneath baby.

benefits: bubs feels snug (supposed to mimic womb feeling), prevents arm flailing which can cause unnecessary wake ups, also helps to keep baby still to get through the jolts from deep to light sleep. Also good for early days breastfeeding when there are arms everywhere.

Worked wonders for us up to 4 months

you need some of these muslin wraps . They are enormous and stretchy. My kids have both managed to wriggle out of other wraps, but not these. They are also big enough to use as shade cloths over the buggy in summer.

DS was an arm flapper, who doesn't like his arms being under blankets either now. Thought i'd give swaddling a go this time round.

my ds can only sleep when swaddled, the only draw back is, he is now 6 months and can excape quite easily, and he cant sleep unless swaddled!

It finally dawned on me that my 6 mth old was not sleeping because of over-active arm flap. Have just re-introduced the swaddle. Failing that I have to hold his arms down. A sarong works quite well for warmer weather
