I just HATE it when...

... upsetting things happen to my children and there's nothing I can do to soften the blow!

Dd1 had her rainbows promise party today.

They were playing musical chairs. Dd1 found a chair, sat down on it, got up - another mum pulled it away for the next round, but dd1 sat down again - and landed full force on her bottom.

She cried her eyes out because it hurt and because she felt extremely embarrassed. It sort of spoiled the party for her.

I felt gutted, really gutted, and I tried to talk to her but in the end there was not much I could do.

I hate that kind of thing.

It's horrible when you realise you can't protect them from everything isn't it

Poor little lady.
You really do feel for them when rotten stuff happens.

Oh bless her. I have to say I dread this kind of thing happening to DS. Does make me wonder if I will ever let him out of the house once he's over the age of 5!!

My ds3 is no angel at rising 3, but one thing that really upsets him - and which again I can do nothing about - is if he hears another toddler, or a baby, crying when we're out somewhere.
Ds "Oh I can hear cryin' - that baby's sad."
Me "Yes, but he'll be OK in a minute"
Ds "Why's he sad ? Is something hurting...?" (Anxious face and wobbly lip)
Etc etc

ah bless, but on the plus side, you were there to comfort her and stem her embarassment and make her feel a bit better. And that's what mums are for.

Thanks huw, you've made me feel slightly better about it now.
