wet nappies waking dd in night

DD 1 year drinks loads of water, which I'm not complaining about, but as a result she is soaking nappies right through, and understandably waking all wet and bothered at about 4am. I've tried changing the nappy at 10:30 when we go to bed, but sometimes it's not wet at all, she seems to have an amazing capacity for holding her bladder until the early hours. I've tried sitting her on a potty (Iknow she's too young, just thought it worth a try) after her bath and making a psssssss sound, which makes her giggle, and she copies the sound, very funny . I give her a bottle of milk before bed, which can't help. I haven;t tried restricting water, but she tries to drink the bath water if she's thirsty so not sure there's much point anyway. Any ideas. Also I use washable nappies (with about a hundred boosters!), but have switched to Moltex biodegradable for night time use, which are loads better, but not solving the problem.
Any ideas or do I just accept the broken nights?

You obviously have good environmental principles, but my DS1 always weed alot and I never had trouble with huggies / pammpers / tesco overnight.

You could try using a disposable the next size up for extra absobency.

I always used a pad of gauze that I cut into large squares and put in his nappy, this soaked up first. you can buy it from the chemist.

I think there was a thread about something simular last week....

If you try a Pampers type disposable you will still only be using one a day which is loads less than most people. I would try one (see if you can try one from someone who uses disposables)and see if it helps.

DS regularly has a nappy so heavy in the morning that it is almost at his knees with the weight of water but he's leaked once and that was when he took off his nappy.

My dd is nearly 3, and pretty much dry at night if I don't let her drink any milk for the last half hour before bed. BUT if I mess up and give her milk too close to bedtime, and she doesn't have time to digest it and pee before bed, she wakes up soaked in the small hours....just like your dd.

I think its really only the last half hour or so that makes the difference, at least for dd - worth trying the milk earlier??
