At ds nursery theres been a huge change of staff and to be honest they dont seem to be that nice. Anyway ds has just turned two and you know what 2 year olds are like. Ive just picked him up and asked if hes been ok and this nursery nurse said he had been taking toys off other children and she could tell in his eyes he knew what he was doing etc and i felt really annoyed by that as it werent what she said it was the way she said it. For one hes 2 years old, hes also any only child and thirdly his daddys away down the gulf and the nursery actually caters for service people so surely they should know children go through phases especially when their parents are away. The thing is thats why he goes to nursery to learn interaction skills but she sort of said it in a way that i should be dealing with it. But isnt this part of their learning. Obviously if i see it myself i intervene and tell him no but i know he just thinks its a game and he isnt being spiteful or anything.

Reiterate to the nursery nurse that he's 2 years old and tell her to get a life.

(sorry, know it's not that helpful, but might make you feel better

erm surely they should be dealing with it if it is a problem at nursery (but not at home). Also he's 2 - a lot of kids do that at this age surely.

I would be most miffed.

im glad its not just me if he was biting or hitting then obviuosly i would be more concerned. I have seen him take childrens toys off them but half the time he just thinks its a game.Hes alot smaller then most 2 year olds and i worry more about them hitting him especially older children. But at the same time other children have taken toys off him he gets upset like children do but i just distract him with another toy i dont have a go at the other parents. Its just natural its not much i can do is there as isnt it something they just all got through. Arrraggghhh im so annoyed especially as hes been missing his daddy the last few days because hes been unwell-hes not been himself but i did tell them that earliar and that his daddys been away etc.

Tell them he's 2 (and just gone 2) and it's normal and you don't want to be bothered with trivial stuff. Say "and how are you dealing with that...okay that sounds great please continue".

As he's an only child, it's not like you can do anything at home to support them.

He's 2. Sounds normal to me. Nothing to do with being an only child. What's up with the nursery nurse? Is she familiar with children's behaviour and development? Agree with threebob in that I'd ask how they are handling it. Hopefully not too harshly.

Agree, ask her what she's doing about it - make it her problem, not yours.

Yeah exactly i cant do alot unless i see him around other children and doing it in front of me. But the way she said it you would of thought it was the most abnormal thing in the world or that he was some sort of bully. He goes to nursery purely for interaction and the bonus is i get a break. The new team leader was there when she said it and defused it by saying to her that i had said earlier he hasnt been well etc and kept telling me how cute and angelic he was so maybe she picked up on it and had a word with her once i had gone.
