My 6 week old DS has terrible wind and cries out with pain after each feed. I am using Infacol, and a small about of water each day, but nothing seems to relieve his pain. An ideas?

Hi CBK, My dd had bad colic, I found the infacol rubbish, once she got to 1 month I started using gripe water and found it a god send, I just gave her a bit after each feed and it seemed to help loads. Also, he'll probably grow out of it soon, everyone told me 3 months but my dd seemed to be ok by about 8/9 weeks.

Hi MonkeyBabyMum, thanks for the advice. I will try the gripe water.

colief worked for us, it is expensive for the size of it but worth every penny hth x how is your ds tonight?

loads of walking up and down, driving round town at 1 or 2 in morning was good for dd if not us

CBK - My DD suffered terribly with colic and wind too. I took her to a chiropractor at 6 wks (one specialising in babies) and it helped no end! Might be worth a try - they don't hurt them or anything. In fact my DD always slept like a log after a treatment!

Infacol didn't work for us either but gripe water helped. Colief is a bit fiddly if you are breastfeeding but much easier if you are formula feeding...

Good luck - it's awful in the early days of colic but like MBM said my DD was drastically improved by 8 wks.

I agree gripe water much better than infacol and 'woodwards' better than other stuff. Dunno if you're bfing but I cut out wheat (I had tummy ache too) and it did the trick for ds immediately. The other thing that helped us was holding him in a sling or upright against a shoulder, sitting on one of those large bithing/gym balls and bouncing him up and down. It does get better, but it's so upsetting while it's happening.

Cuddle them over your arm face down ('tiger in a tree' hold) and rub tummy. Warm baths. Try to make sure they are not swallowing air when feeding. Lots of patience. They will grow out of it ...
