How much TV do your under 5s watch each day?

I know that "experts" say they should not watch more than an hour a day, but mine (2 boys, 4 and 2) usually do - nearly an hour having breakfast and getting ready for school and probably the same in the evening, and maybe a bit in the day too if they are home! The adore children's TV and always ask for it to be on, and I make sure that it isn't most of the time (DH doesn't though!) They love DVDs like Ice Age 2 and The Incredibles too. Am I creating monsters?

Annie, I hate the so called bloody experts. You parent as you see fit and do what you feel to be right. Trust in your own judgements and you will do better than any 'expert'.

If you want them to watch less t.v. then instigate that, turn it off and provide other things like drawing and playing. My kids always have to ask me now if they can watch t.v.
I guess they watch a fair deal, but there are also times when I say they should go and play a game with each other, their toys or do quiet activities. Only you know if they are getting a variety if activities to do
