Most embarrassing moment as a neurotic first time mum

When DD was tiny my mum came over (rare event) and I put DD down for a nap and then sat in kitchen talking. My mum was laughing and talking loudly whereas I was creaping about and whispering. After one loud laugh I heard DD whimpering and I told mum if she didn't keep her voice down I would smack her bottom.

She looked affronted and told me not to let DD sleep in absolute silence and that it would be a rod for my own back.

I cringe to this day and wonder why I threatened to smack her bottom!

lol!
My dh is the neurotic one!
First walk with our dd1...he was in charge of the pushchair..we went to the park...we spent most of the time walking in opposite directions to dogs....overhanging branches....suspicious looking people....teenagers....people on bikes....
We went home after about 15mins...it was all too much for him (bless)

Not neurotic, but embarrassing all the same. Went with a friend to town when my baby was a week old, and forgot to take the pushchair. Doesn't sound too embarrassing, you think? Well considering this was with baby number 3 I should have known better

Not neurotic, but certainly embarrassing:
I had a phone call from the health visitor, and we were arranging for her to visit me. I was double checking her details and asked for her name, and when she told me I told her what a lovely name it was.
DH and I couldn't decide on a name for DD for ages and were so used to cooing over the other babies names in the ward, it just came out. Hopefully she's used to nutty people who've just given birth and have mushy brains...

We brought DS home and DH was in the room with him when the doorbell rang, he went down to answer it and then I gave him a row for leaving DS on his own for the time it had taken to answer the door.

DS was in the cot and was 1 week old, I'm not sure what I thought would happen, but I had somehow got it into my head that babies should never be left alone.

I refused to take DS1 out in the pram when he was 5 days old as I thgought the traffic would damage his hearing!

My DD was born 2 months early and still very tiny when we took her home. I had been warned not to let people touch her as a cold could be very serious...(make anyone paranoid)...

a couple of weeks later I had to take her to the eye hospital for check up as she'd been ventilated. a man came over and started touching her and cooing - "Please don't touch her!!" I announced, jumping up. He looked a little amused and off he went. The nurses tried to hide their smiles as they explained, this man was the pediatric consultant I was booked in to see!!......CRINGE! I will never, no never ever forget that toe curling moment.

Put my dd to bed with her bottle, she was around 6 months, I went up to check later and she was wet through, I'd never seen a fever before so I just thought she must be really hot and sweaty. I was struck by blind panic at how wet she was. I picked her up and drove straight to hospital. Screamed blue murder to be seen straight away. Created such a fuss the doctor saw us straight away in the corridor. Of course he gave me some calpol and said she was fine otherwise. I went home pleased I managed to get seen so quickly etc went to put her to bed to find her bottle with the top off ...

LOL
I have just remembered that we took DD to Texas when she was 2 weeks old. Whilst we were there she got colic and screamed all night, by the next morning I was sobbing and desperate so we took her to a hospital and demanded to be seen.
We wouldn't sit in the waiting room in case she caught anything and paced around with her looking frantic.
Luckily we were seen quite quickly where they announced it was colic.
They gave us some drops and that was that.
