Have I just done the right thing?

DS2 is due mid October, DS1 will be 2 at the end of November. DH thinks we won't need a double pushchair, I think we do.

I won a Graco double pushchair on eBay (very cheap) but it's massive, so heavy and takes up most of the boot in our Ford Mondeo. So it's going back on eBay.

Was talking to a friend who had 3 DCs under 3 and she was praising her Phil & Teds, saying she couldn't live without it. I've been watching one on eBay and not sure what came over me but, right at the last few seconds I put a bid in and won it! Now I'm thinking, I shouldn't have done it Confused

I only wanted a cheap (under £50) light, double and although I think I got this for a good price (£112) I'm wondering if it's all that for over double what I wanted to pay!

I'm panicking now, any wise words on these pushchairs, is it worth £112 and if I really need a double!?

Fuck yes especially in winter.

What on earth will you do when it is cold, pissing it down and you have a non-compliant two year old who is tired and you need to get somewhere plus have shit loads of shopping.

You always think it will be fine but trust me your two year old will seem older but they're just a toddler.

I survived without one for three months or so while dd was in a sling but the p&t was a godsend when I stopped using it (2.2 age gap)

Tbf even if you only use it for three minths or so, you can always resell it!

I am not getting a double but that is because dd will be three by the time this one comes along. Had she been a year younger id have done what you did.

I had dd2 when dd1 was 17 months old and I bought a second hand Phil and teds and I hated it-it didn't recline, the baby was stuck underneath, I just did not like it so got rid of it ASAP! I then got a second hand jane powertwin pro that I really liked but in hindsight I didn't really need a double. Either the baby could be in a sling and the toddler can be in the pram or the toddler can be in the rucksack and the baby in the pram. The double was handy for the handful of times I used it but I wouldn't bother getting a double again! It depends on how much walking you do. I live in the middle of nowhere so I have to drive everywhere, if I lived somewhere where I could walk to shops etc I may have used the double more often.

Yes you do need it! We have one - dd 1 and 2 are 2 years apart. It is a godsend. We got it second hand from cousins for 100 so think you got a bargain!

I have to say I loved our double graco. We had 22 months between DDs and it was in use for years. We do a lot of long walks and long days out and they are good for carrying coats/bags/packed lunches as well as children. The full seats plus huge basket under was exactly what we wanted and well worth having to put a suitcase between DDs on holidays/visits to have it in the boot.

We even took it to Spain. It's more maneuverable than people think and I'd suggest keeping it - if you can find the space - until after you've had DC2.

I was sad the day I freecycled it. But then I met it again a few weeks ago at our local leisure centre. I knew it was my old friend immediately Grin After all I had to squeeze past it in the hallway often enough.

I loved the big red buggy as we called the Phil and Teds - DC are 22 months apart born in September and November and I'm very glad we had it. My only regret was not having bought one sooner ie instead of the mamas and papas one I had for DS.
