Gina Ford- no protein prior to bed?

DS is 6.5 months old and has been doing solids for a couple of weeks. It's going well. I've just started to offer food, 3 meals a day, but am fairly relaxed about how much he eats. I'm doing mostly BLW and it's fairly random what food he gets given.

I've just read GF says fruit only before bed. I wondered why this is? Presume something to do with digestion? I often give DS protein at 4pm so bit worried now!

I think giving protein is fine, it is really up to you what you give your DS. She might think fruit is better, but that will just be her opinion rather than evidence based fact.

I think it's to do with what helps them sleep best. Some foods are slow-release for example so keep them feeling fuller for longer therefore not waking hungry as you'll be aiming to gradually cut the night feeds down then out altogether. I read bananas are sleep-enhancers for example. I did give protein / carbs tbh and didn't have an issue. I followed Annabel Karmel for weaning and Gina gave me a rough idea on routines / potty training. If your LO has been sleeping ok I wouldn't worry. I carried on with a dream feed until weaning was well underway and I knew they were eating decent portions.

Woops didn't mean to drop a bomb! Lol Generally interstellar if it's a known fact / science I shouldn't be doing it, or whether it's just opinion of GF! ;/)

Just avoid lattes in his bottle after 3pm and you'll be fine Smile

If he's sleeping, pooping and smiling fine on what your doing now if just keep on doing it.

Thank you all. I take it it's fine and not a hard and fast rule I missed somewhere along the line!
