Lonely?

Hi moms, not sure if this is the right place to post this - so many topics, but is anyone else lonely at home with their kids? I am so blessed to have two kids, a 4 year old and almost 18 month old - they are normally a lovely bunch of kids...and I do loads with them - today we off to a play area in the morning and then possibly the park or library this afternoon...I try get out the house every day, and I have a hubby who is home by 6 most evenings, so I don't mean to be a moaner, but I don't have any close friends - noone to just pop over to for a coffee, or someone to pop to me - my little 4 year old is lonely as well (been summer holidays here for 3 weeks already - she's really missing nursery...and still 5 weeks summer holidays to go) ... I moved to NI 2 years ago, but really struggling to make friends, and sometimes its so so lonely - not sure if I'm normal, or if I should just be happy at home with my kids all day :-(

I could have written your post OP, didn't want to read and run! I can't wait til my oldest starts school as I am reliably informed I should be swamped with friends and (playground politics) then! Its bloody lonely sometimes - even if you go to different groups etc. I don't haveany advice as I am in the same boat - but just wanted to say hang in there - you are definitely not the only one who feels like this!!!

Hi Louise

Have you tried some parent and toddler groups, or similar?

I met most of my 'mum friends' at toddler groups or the nursery/school gates.

I know exactly how you feel! I think this must be quite a common feeling.

I'm quite a reserved person until you get to know me, and even in a group I'm usually the quietest.

I go to toddler groups but generally I only click with one person, which makes for a lonely experience if they are not there!

I have mummy friends, but mostly they fill their time visiting family and other friends. We are not on the radar unless it's a group get together.

I'm dreading the summer hols if I'm honest. All of 2 year old DDs classes /activities finish, so I'll be trying to fill the time and not feel like the social leper I often do. I'm with you OP.
Sorry there's nothing more constructive I can add. Maybe someone more helpful in this respect will be along soon? X

Me.

I know loads of people and have Mum acquaintances who I chat to and have a laugh with but I never really get invited to do anything outside school or toddlers.
I have really low self esteem which doesn't help. I always think that people don't want to be around me so get wary of inviting anyone to do anything.

Ah thanks ladies - I'm similar to you joosiewoosie....I do go to tots groups (almost every day)...also sometimes never talking to anyone though - I am so shy...but in this country they all finished the end of May - its been a bl*y long summer already...dd starts school in Sept so hoping things improve then...doesn't help for next 6 weeks though - was thinking a few cyber friends would help lol ... Thanks for comments - helps already knowing I'm not insane (yet)

I'm so lonely. I'm shy so while I go to lots of baby groups, I hate trying to talk to new people all the time. I also hate being alone at home so can't win! Feel like a terrible mum for counting down the minutes to the end of mAternity leave
