Teaching DD to read... where to start?

Dd1 is 4.9 years old. She is at nursery every morning from 9-11 and starts school in August (Scotland)

I was hoping to teach her to read but I genuinely don't have a clue where to start. I feel a bit stupid because it's going to be something very obvious but I don't know the best method.

Any book recommendations that could start us off would be welcomed

Are storio/leap pad things worth buying? She has an innotab already but I'm not too sure if that's any use.

Thanks Smile

No real experience but would have thought beginning with phonetics/alphabet, getting the sounds of letters in order to begin to spell out words together.

Lots of reading together, my DD loves her alphabet puzzle and wall stickers and now points out letters we see out and about (but she's younger and isn't at stage of actual reading/putting letter sounds together)

Jolly phonics is excellent in teaching letter sounds.
