Help with sleeping!

Hi, I would just like to ask a bit of advice regarding sleeping. My baby is 5 and a half months and up until about four weeks ago was a great sleeper. She used to sleep all night. Now she is waking up during the nite, sometimes every hour! She still sleeps in her crib beside my bed so when I hear her start to wake I put her dummy back in and she settles quickly and is back off to sleep. So I don't let her fully wake up, I put the dummy back in before she wakes herself up. I'm now not getting any sleep myself due to being woken every hour some nights. I just don't know how to break this habit? I'm exhausted and don't no what to do, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you think its the 4 month sleep regression? If so, it should pass without any intervention.

She's probably hungry - I'd just feed her.

Just to chip in here, we night weaned ours a few weeks ago as I was convinced he wasn't hungry and was all fine until this regression. It occurred to me yesterday that I should try feeding him so this morning I made up a 4 bottle for him. He had barely 2oz which I basically coaxed into him, then cried until I gave him his dummy and continued waking the rest of the night for his dummy as he has been every other night.

Thanks for your replies. I was thinking about the 4 month sleep regression jiltedjohnsjulie, but wasn't sure as she has been doin it for nearly two months now. Maybe? Last night we put her down at 10 and she woke at 3. I decided to feed her which I don't normally do and she took it, but we had the same fight on our hands as we do every time before sleep falls asleep. She screamed the house down. Lasted maybe 15 minutes and then she fell asleep! That was her to 7 this morning. I feel like because i persevered I should keep the dummy away all day. I will try not to give in but I feel it will be a long long day! So mayb she was wakening for a feed? Il see how tonight goes!

Sometimes their sleep just does go to pot and there's no magic bullet or anything you can do about it. DC3 is 7m now, and it's been all over the shop for three months, though seems to be settling down a bit now. Sometimes he's woken up every 40 minutes all night, sometimes he's been awake for an hour and a half in the small hours, sometimes he's been up for the day at 4.15am - never two nights the same. The last two or three nights, though, have been better - two hour stretches of sleep - and his daytime naps have settled down too. We've tried various things, none of which have seemed to make any difference, but basically it's just been a case of getting through it. They all settle down eventually - sometimes you just have to acknowledge that there's nothing you can do to speed up the process.
