It's sad to grow old, but nice to ripen.

Lovely thread title & quotes - thanks Eagle & Somewhere smile!

DS snoring away, after getting up at 5... DD still in bed, gives me just about enough time.to mark my place on the New thread. Thanks somewhere and eagle.

Got a day to look forward to. DD is in nursery later and DH is looking after DS all afternoon whilst I get pampered at the hairdressers. Felt I deserved a bit of me time and can't wait. Hoping for a bit of Autumn colour rather than the grey I can see poking it's way through!
Waves to all.

blueblackdye Wed 02-Oct-13 08:07:05

Love the quotes Eagle.
Do you have a nasal spray to clean Babe Eagle nose ? A bit barbaric but it does help. DS was so blocked that he could not take his bottle, we cleaned his nose BEFORE night bottle and he was fine until 2,3 am, snoring but at least sleeping. Do not clean afterwards, she might throw up. Boots has some nasal spray.

EagleRay Wed 02-Oct-13 08:50:38

Morning all. Worst night ever. Back soon.

Oh and thanks for new thread somewhere!

blueblackdye Wed 02-Oct-13 09:44:17

Knicky, enjoy the pampering!
Knotty, ordered the book on Amazon, looking forward to reading it

knickyknocks Wed 02-Oct-13 10:27:04

Thanks BBD smile. Off to a relate session first with DH.....so think I'll deserve my 'me' afternoon.

Posted this at end of last thread but thought I should prob move it here.

Argh just lost post! Oh well...
Yay and thanks for new thread sbr! Yes, it's the fourth. I was just reading our first thread yesterday actually, and I noticed that most posts were added between 2 and 3 in the morning! Lots of midnight food porn going on too...
As to place for meeting up on 9th. Southbank is possible, though I won't get much sitting still in a cafe! BG could run up and down outside RFH and if it gets too much I can chuck him in the river to swim home or maybe Kew Gardens, which has Lollipop club soft play next door in the rugby grounds? Or Coram Fields in Bloomsbury? www.coramsfields.org/
Sorry you won't make it eagle but sounds like you will indeed have your hands full with naming ceremony. Maybe we should think of a Christmas get together, perhaps in West London or a tiny bit further afield so it is more central for everyone?

scarecrow22 Wed 02-Oct-13 10:57:11

Marking my place. Poorly toddler and mummy and small teething baby. Things can only get better!

For any new mums, I had dd aged 40 and she'll be 3y just before Christmas. Had ds "T" nearly 6m ago, and am now just 43 myself. DD is famous for cheeky back chat and T smiles 12h a da

littleredmonkey Wed 02-Oct-13 12:25:00

New shiny thread. Thanks somewhere and eagle
Eagle hope u get a better sleep tonite honey. Mine have been shite restructuring naps last two days and success only woken once each night
Knicky. Enjoy your pamper session
Bhb. How ya feeling twinkle?
Snug needs a new look shall we have an Egyptian week lots of colour figs grapes laid on scatter cushions. Baths of milk ps not aptamil either. Cleopatra style

EagleRay Wed 02-Oct-13 12:29:47

Back now. Had to dash off to swimming class earlier - didn't want to go but it's expensive and already paid for so go we must!

Not entirely sure what's going on with DD but it seems that she's full of snot (not sure if it's a cold or teething but either way she's had it for ages now). I think the snot drips into her throat and makes her cough and then she wakes up, always 11pm onwards. However, the screaming last night makes me think she is in pain too so could be teething? I've got a nasal spray which I've started using regularly, plus a snot remover (sucky thing that I was given as a present!) And I'm all for barbarism - she struggles like crazy and has to be held down but I don't see what else I can do? Also have Olbas oil, Calpol, Ibuprofen and teething gel. Oh, and boobs. If nothing else works I dig them out confused

DP is home tonight and has said I can sleep downstairs - I love him!!

Knicky so glad you're having some nice time being looked after - you so deserve it. And hope the relate session goes well - I'm sure it won't be easy but hope it's the first step towards reconciliation (if that's what you want to do).

So jealous I can't make next week - it would just be impossible though. 3 hour journey plus will have to avoid peak hours due to costs. And also have swimming class that day, and have so much to do re naming day. Christmas get-together sounds like a fab idea though!

Scarecrow hope your little ones are better soon. No idea at all how you cope with two as one sick one is bad enough.

Am having minor op at GP surgery this afternoon - is it wrong to be slightly excited at the prospect of lying down and having a doctor fuss over me? grin

somewherebecomingrain Wed 02-Oct-13 12:55:11

Coram fields! Totally. Always wanted to go there.

Yes Xmas get together let's plan it xx

Sorry for shortness just too busy

lrm like your Egyptian snug!

scarecrow22 Wed 02-Oct-13 13:12:19

hello again. dd asleep and T fussing but hope he'll resettle. (If not I guess I jinxed myself sad )

Love New thread: thanks Some and Eagle

I'm v happy with Coram Fields and sounds like more suitable for A too (*bbd*?) Am enjoying pre movement stage for last few weeks I think. Maybe Kew at Christmas to accommodate the large Westcountry contingent. or meet Reading?!

DD greatly helped by Calprofen as virus has inflamed her throat and ears. I seem to have a mild dose. T seems to have pulled through and regained appetite though dribble, hand munching and red bottom suggest also teething. Discovered on Mon night MOT and VED had run out. Roll in next week! My heroic cm is taking T for A couple of hours this afternoon so I can pander to dd a bit more and he can get out. Now to add more wine to my internet shop.....

Eagle your drip-cough theory sounds highly plausible. DD dies that a lot. Watch out for A temp in case she has a virus, otherwise teeth likely.

Rosie when bf if not reading to DD I check MN and offer too much advice and search for Polarn O Pyret and Frugi on eBay. and feel guilty I'm not reading or gazing at my son. And occasionally pray that there is no long term damage to his little brain from spending so much time by my phone...

Goals? crumbs, need to have a think. I used to behave great lists of goals like cantering a horse along a beach and seeing a particular picture in a gallery, etc, but have been too focused in.kids and sleep! I have had a couple of business ideas recently, to which I'm now going to add 'soft play on the South Bank'! Or simply himself as a nanny for women who want to meet and chat to friends while I.entertain their kids grin

scarecrow22 Wed 02-Oct-13 13:14:58

"HIRE myself as a nanny..." among other typos.

Eagle hope op goes.okay thanks

Knotty does.Coram fields suit? If not where would be better (in future at least)?

knottyhair Wed 02-Oct-13 13:44:15

Knicky, hope Relate goes well and enjoy your pampering!
Eagle, sorry you had such a bad night. Good luck at the docs.
Scarecrow, glad the Calprofen is helping DD, poor thing.
Goat, Coram Fields would be grand! Just depends on the time - I think the latest train I can get home for the school run is 2ish from Victoria.

My goals are currently in the short term sort out my massive crap filled cupboard in the kitchen and to get my raised beds back to their former glory. Long term to climb Snowdon and I'd love to walk the length of the Thames and poss walk across from the Lakes to the North East coast I'm sure I read about a route once but may have imagined it. Also to do a road trip across America (which we were talking about doing when I discovered I was pregnant with Rosa). But we've been watching Bates Motel on TV and DP is now scared grin.

scarecrow22 Wed 02-Oct-13 13:51:34

oh Knotty I love Snowdonia. Do try Cader Idris if you are in the area. Possibly my favourite walk of all time (the other contender is Helvellyn as DH proposed up at the top, but I don't remember much of the actual walk, and it also depends on how fondly I'm looking on that moment grin )

knottyhair Wed 02-Oct-13 13:56:07

Scarecrow, that sounds very romantic! It's beautiful there isn't it? I went a couple of times with XH so have tried to block it out but it's too pretty, but he wouldn't walk up Snowdon, so had to get the train with the elderly contingent but we did walk down blush. DP is far more up for it, and we've done some pretty challenging hikes in Austria (DP is half Austrian). Just need to wait a couple of years I guess!

scarecrow22 Wed 02-Oct-13 14:14:35

alternatively go this spring. DS at 9 should manage the easy route and Rosa would still be small enough for the backpack, no? They are half Alpine after all grin

EagleRay Wed 02-Oct-13 14:26:58

Yes do mountains now! We did Samiri gorge when DD 14 weeks pushy parents

grin at your PoP habit scarecrow in fact, I may have just the thing for T...

Quick (or prob not so quick) question ladies...
It's one of those wonderful TMI poo questions we are all obsessed by. BG is 14 months, has between 3 and 5 soiled nappies a day and they are not pleasant. Last one was dark dark green and rather copious confused . Also he doesn't seem to be digesting things that were fine a few months ago. Should I worry? Talk to the paediatrician who we see in two weeks time? Or is this normal? I'm just aware that we had different formula in NZ and he didn't really take to it very well.
In park with the galloping BG. More later!!

blueblackdye Wed 02-Oct-13 15:54:45

Coram fields, yep, I can take bus 46 and meet you there. Probably around 12.45 at the earliest. Won't have A though but DS will be with us, Weds afternoon is my 1-2-1 time with him.
Spent afternoon baking madeleines with him and dinner tonight as well as lunch tomorrow if I have the visit of my friend.
Knackered, sitting down 10 min before pick up from nursery.
Reading about Snowdon, I am keener and keener on discovering the UK, have not done a lot when no child, too busy working, stupid me, so we have to do it now with them !
Ok, time s up. Have to go.

blueblackdye Wed 02-Oct-13 16:10:17

Oh btw Rosie when BF, I read gina Ford, BW, How to talk so kids listen..., Ken Follett, Les Fleurs du Mal, Approach to Montessori, Lonely Planet to Australia....

littleredmonkey Wed 02-Oct-13 16:24:47
