When did your DC start using an adult bath ??

DS is 9 mo and is starting to get a bit big for his baby bath. Can I put him in an adult bath??
My only concern is that he is sometimes wobbly when sitting..
Or should I get a bath seat ?? (Not sure if he'll fit in a bath seat tbh...)

Thanks :)

I never used a baby bath, mainly because I wanted to bath my twins together, so I used reclining bath seats until they could sit properly, about 10 months, and then I got two swivel seats which I am still using at 20 months. I think with just one child I wouldn't have bothered with the seat after about 12 months. The seats are cheap on amazon though.

From about 6months IIRC, maybe a bit younger. I know they were definitely in the big bath by 6 months. I found the bath seat indispensible. Can't imagine trying to manage without them.

From about 3days old. First in the plastic recliner thing then just to sitting up. When they were first sitting up I used a bath mat to stop them slipping. Much better and more sociable in the big bath. Baby baths are one of those totally unnecessary pieces of kit IMO.

Birth, I borrowed a bath seat off a friend.

Can't remember what age DD was when we stopped using the baby bath. We found it handy because it used less water.

DS (DC2) has been in big bath (sharing with sister) since about 2 weeks. We used a towel covered reclined seat thing until he could sit, but just in the bath (with mats so not too slippy) since 5 months. Obviously we are close in case he does slip.

DS still in his tippitoes bath at 12.5 months, he's average size and it's a bit snug but not uncomfortably so. He loves it and I love it as he is well covered with water (instead of sitting in an inch of it in the bath tub) and it takes just a minute to fill

After 1 week. I just got in with him. Still do. Plastic baths and all that stuff is a waste of money imvho, just climb in with them, quicker and safer.

Oh bless. You've just brought back memories. From very young, I used to run a v shallow bath and just put them in lying down. They'd have SUCH a great time splashing. I have this image of arms and legs splashing up and down like snow angels in the bath. I had twins too, and they'd splash each other which caused even greater hilarity. I can't remember when they started sitting up, just when they were pretty secure and far away from the taps.

Neither of mine liked the baby bath so we just put them in the big bath from s few weeks old and loved it. We never bothered with bath seats or anything either just held them until they could sit unaided. Always felt that the seats would offer some sort of false security and felt safer holding them.

Birth. Used to take them in with me.

I never got a babh bath - had a terry towelling ramp dd used to lie on, then sit on, now she just sits directly in the tub and has since about 8mo.

With DD2, I think I only used the baby bath twice! He'll be fine - you just sit next to him and steady his shoulders when he wobbles - he'll love it!

From about 8 weeks. DS was too big for baby bath so started using a reclined bath seat at first but now at 14 weeks we just run a shallow bath and lay him flat. He loves splashing around!

When he was too big to fit in the sink :o

That is true for no 3. :o With the first 2 I did the baby bath thing.

With the first 2 I did the bath seat in the big bath when they outgrew the baby bath - they were in the big bath from about 4 months, at which point they could both sit independently but bath seat prevented slip and wobble. I think it said from 6 months OR sitting independently on the seat. The 3rd was never in a bath seat, I just dunked him in between his older siblings for a 3 min wash when he was tiny (they liked to wash him while I held him) and once big enough he sat between them, again they did most of the washing except a last rinse while I mainly made sure he didn't slip over.

It says on most bath seats not to use them once a child is pulling to standing, so a 9 month old is likely already to be doing that or to start soon. Just something to bear in mind, though in practice as long as you keep your attention focussed on the child and are sitting right by the bath it would be fine for a child who CAN pull up but doesn't do it obsessively all of the time - and you can use your judgement and take them out if it is looking like they are about to try to climb out!

From birth, they used to lie down in the bath and have such a lovely wriggle and splash. Once sitting I got a non slip mat and was careful. :)

Never had a baby bath. Dcs 1 and 2 were bathed in the kitchen sink and dc3 was just plonked in the bath with the other two.

Thanks all :)

I doubt bath seats will be of any use ... DS is quite chunky and will probably only fit in the seats for a month or even less....
So directly in the bath it is :)

About 12 weeks. He rarely had baths until then.

What MerryMarigold did with dc2-4. Very shallow bath and lie them flat from the start. Then none slip stickers when they sat up.

Did the baby bath with dc1 but don't think it even came out of the loft for dc4Grin

Have never used a bath seat.

I still use it with my 5 mo DD and am planning to carry on for at least another year. Saves money on the meter. I use a bath support but am planning to use a ring seat when she can sit up properly

With dd it was when she got too big for the bathroom sink. So about 7/8 weeks! We also do the shallow bath lying down thing. She's just started sitting now she's 8 months and has been rolling over in the water with her head up since about since 6 months.

She had her first shower today. Loved it!

Dd is still in her baby bath at 20 months!

Straight away. Bathed in sink alone or bath with us from the beginning.

One of my favourite memories is when ds2 was 10 days old. Myself, dh and ds1 (16 months) all piled in the bath with jacuzzi setting on, with champagne for myself and dh, and ds1 eating an ice lolly to celebrate ds2 birth, and ds2 fell asleep on dh chest. ( luckily its a large bath)

Both dc wrre in big bath by 5 months but ds rarely used the baby bath - I used to take him in the shower with me and df would take him in the bath with him, we both still do sometimes if he's creeping about the bathroom :)

Dc3 I've bought a bath with a wee built in seat ledge thingy but I presume she'll end up in with us as well as it's so much easier.
