Has anyone badly hemorrhaged after a birth then went on to have more children?

I hemorrhaged 2 litres of blood due to a fast delivery of my last baby. The womb didn't contract back down and I had to have a blood transfusion. Scary and made me think 'NEVER AGAIN'.

My mum and gran had fast labours too and apparently the older you are and the more you have the bigger the chance it will happen. Especially if it happened before.

Madness is creeping in though Smile and im pondering on having one more baby. Im 36 so would be looking at being 37/38 and this would be my forth. I can't believe im actually this mad!

I had a much smaller pph (750ml) & next birth was fine, probably lowest blood loss of the lot (hardly anything).
I think only you can decide if you can face risking it again.

I had a pph and retained placenta. Thankfully just avoided transfusion but did go to theatre for retained placenta which was a bit dramatic/scary.

Second birth was amazing, straightforward and no pph or any other problems at all.

Same as okthen.
My second was absolutely fine.

I lost 3.5 litres and ended up in intensive care . . . We aren't going to have another as I've had 2 but just to reassure you the consultant made a point of coming around to me after to say I could have another one if I wanted, they would just monitor me more. She also said a c section would be more likely to lead to another pph so to aim not to.

My sister in law. They just kept a very close eye on her the second time. It happened again but she lost much less blood this time.

Yes. Ended up having a 4 pint transfusion after DS1 . Then a 3 pint transfusion after DS2's precipitate birth. Then I decided never again!

I didn't know at the time that I have HMS, which predisposes towards fast births and post partum haemorrhage, amongst other things that I had to deal with in my first pregnancy in particular, like constant fainting and, of course, a lot of pain and fatigue.

Me. Had a PPH (and seizure) due to retained placenta and had to have four pints of blood.

Second birth was fine but they were watching much, much more closely. Basically they set a time limit (in advance) for how long the placenta had to come out before they took action.

Yes, I lost 3l and had a transfusion, then went on to have a perfectly normal second delivery.

I had a PPH after EMCS, possibly related to a fibroid. I was 39 and surgeon said absolutely no reason I can't have subsequent natural pregnancies / births.

I had a big big bleed and subsequent blood transfusion with my twins after an emergency cesarean. And had another singleton baby ten years later with no bleeding problems at all.:)

Thanks everyone. I didn't know a C- section made it more likely. I had a C section first time then 2 naturally so was thinking I would just ask for a c section - No way then.
Had placenta previa first time too so I would be running the risk of that again. Aghhh, the stress, don't know if I could go through pregnancy stressing again but will see. Thanks again x
