Hi dont know if I have posted in the right place.

My 12 month old dd has just recently started scratching me and hitting my hand away when im trying to see her. Sounds silly but its almost like she is trying to hurt me when she scratches me, she drew blood the other day.

Im telling her no and putting her down when she does this which results in her crying which makes us both feel crap Sad

Is this a normal stage that babies go through or is this an issue I need to tackle? Is there anything else I can try to get her to stop?

Shes not like this all the time by the way, shds normally very loving and affectionate and I get lots of cuddles etc.. This is happening when shes tired, when im tryingbtondress her and so on.

My DD did this, it feels awful, doesn't it? You're doing the right thing by gently discouraging it. It was when she was tired or a bit over-excited, or if she wanted my attention and wasn't immediately getting it (when tired). It got much better for me when she started talking more, around 2. You could also try hugging her close instead when she's doing it or trying to get her to nap/put her in her buggy if out? Try to keep her nails short so she's not hurting you. Personally I think it was about not being able to express herself at that point.
