toys for 2 month old

my DD is nearly 2 months old, when shes awake i want to do something with her to keep her engaged etcetc, but i have no idea WHAT im meant to do! we often go out and shes around other people all the time so gets face to face time and stuff like this, but on days like today, when im chilling out at home, when shes awake what should we be doing?!

ive been looking at getting her one of those playmats with the activity things over the top with the mirror and the sounds and stuff but not sure if its a bit old for her?
(on the same note, if anyone knows where i can get a freestanding (so not actually attached to the mat) activity arm, that folds up and isnt horrifically plastically i would be very grateful!)

any ideas? / suggestions? / just tell me to chill out!?

The thing they love most is your face and a.bit of a chattering to. Saying that, I did have a playmat for dd which I would lay her on for ten mins at a time whenever she was awake long enough (she only ever stayed awake for 30mins at a time so had nappy and feeds to squeeze in too).

If you do get one, look for one where the edges turn up so she can see them as well as the dangly stuff.

Dd loved anything black and white or that rustled. The Lamaze toys are good.

Yy to Lamaze toys - 4mo DD is obsessed with her 'jacques the peacock'.

The first toys she really interacted with were those blankets with an animal head on. She's got a mouse one from h&m that isn't too thick so she can grasp it easily. They are also good for chewing on!

I used to do stuff around the house. Bring dd with me in the sling. Or in the bouncy chair so she should walk.

Or pop her on the cot or next to me on the bed while she had tummy time next to me. Some black and white things to look at.

I would get out of the house every day unless there was severe weather. Fresh air is important!

Turquoise - same here! Jacques has always been a big hit and very amusing to see people faces "ooh who's this then?" "that's Jacques the peacock" only toy we have that's not 'dolly' 'teddy' 'dog' etc

thank you so much! i was a bit worried that she was going to be bored of me, but clearly me and a few select toys will keep her going! :)
